A solo traveller Thailand adventure aboard the Star Clipper

Laughter, joy, happiness, colour, water guns, music, dance, celebration

This is Buddhist New Years Eve in Phuket .. in April!  We were fortunate enough to be there for this wonderful event that both visitors & locals can enjoy together.

We spent 2 nights at the fabulous Club Med Resort Phuket located on the beautiful Karon Beach.  This resort really does have it all including a Flying Trapeze school, Archery, Tennis & Fitness schools. It is the perfect holiday for singles, couples & families alike.

We board the Stunning Star Clipper

From here it was off to our fabulous home for the next 7 nights and I was SO excited to board the stunning Star Clipper!  She was lit up beautifully in the night sky & my heart skipped a beat.

Star Clipper is a 4 masted tall ship with all the sails, ropes, nets, teak decks and old world charm one could possibly need.  There are also swimming pools, pina colada’s and lots of wonderful & interesting passengers & crew to get to know.

We were fortunate enough to have the captain at our table twice during our cruise.  He has a way of story-telling with such passion & enthusiasm that made us feel as though this was the first time he had told anyone.

Our ports were truly lovely.  The snorkeling at Ko Surin is possibly the best I’ve ever seen!  This area of the Andaman Sea is a ‘National Park on the Sea’ with sea gypsies & is still so pristine with its emerald green waters.  Both the fish & coral are full of colour & beauty.

We had the beach to ourselves at Ko Rok Nok with it’s devine fine sand, aqua warm water, wild rubber trees, cashews and all kinds of tropical fruits.

Ko Kradan was another absolute favourite with its tree swings in the water and dugongs (sea cows).

Swimming through Tham Morakhot (emerald caves) was a real highlight.  This is a long limestone tunnel that lead us to a secluded inland beach surrounded by clad cliffs.

James Bond Island was a real thrill too!  Good Morning Vietnam was also filmed here.

Wow!  What an incredible & unique experience.  It’s certainly one that I shall never forget.
